The Story Behind MNRCH LGCY
Hi, I'm Alejandro Ramirez, founder of MNRCH LGCY—short for Monarch Legacy. This isn't just a clothing brand to me. It's personal. My family is from Michoacán, Mexico, home to one of the world's largest Monarch butterfly sanctuaries. As a kid, I remember seeing their brilliant orange wings flood the mountains—thousands at a time, dancing through the sky like living fire. But year by year, those wings became fewer. What was once a symbol of wonder and cultural pride was now fading. That's when I knew I had to act.
Why We Exist
Pollinators like Monarchs and honey bees are disappearing at an alarming rate. In the 2023–2024 winter season, Monarch colonies in Mexico only occupied 2.2 acres—a 59% drop from the year before. Their decline is driven by habitat loss, pesticide use, and climate change. But this isn't just an environmental crisis—it's a cultural one, too. Monarchs represent resilience, migration, beauty, and transformation. To lose them is to lose part of who we are. MNRCH LGCY was born from that urgency: a sustainable streetwear brand built to raise awareness, spark change, and fund pollinator conservation.

With every order, we support real conservation efforts like the Illinois Monarch Project and other environmental initiatives focused on tree planting, plastic removal, and carbon reduction.
Sustainable from Seed to Stitch
We don't just talk sustainability, we live it. All of our clothing is made from premium, ethically sourced materials grown in the San Joaquin Valley of California. the top 1% of cotton globally, known for softness and longevity. Our materials are grown and processed with no toxic dyes, chemicals, or fertilizers.
Our packaging uses recycled cardboard or biodegradable glassine, with no plastic in sight. Every step of our supply chain is monitored to ensure fair wages, ethical treatment, and low-impact production.
Are we perfect? Not yet. Our partnerships, like the one with the Illinois Monarch Project, are still growing. We're debuting at the NIU Cause Market, sharing our story and mission with our community. What we lack in resources, we make up for in authenticity, design, and purpose. We're building more than a brand. We're building a legacy. Because at MNRCH LGCY, we're not just a brand.
